Happiness is the real feeling of being content in life and being able to make the best out of life whether you are single or married. Happy people are often more positive and are more likely to fulfil their dreams and life’s ambition as it senses a distinctive style of momentum like no other. There are certain important habits that you and your spouse can adopt this year to boost your happiness during this season of adjustment. Cultivating these good habits together at the beginning of a New Year is a wonderful way to tap into your vulnerability and restore your relationship, well-being, and quality of life you both desire.

Happiness is a daily practise and a continuous process where values are added to your lives and marriage along the way as the journey ahead will always have a role to play in your happiness. A happy couple are identified by their habits, lifestyle, and communication because they have built a relationship that values trust in all aspects of their lives. Trust is linked with happiness as it can combat stress, anxiety, and depression, especially in the current harsh economic setting. Marriage is a partnership which requires trust in all aspects so that both parties can enjoy the benefits together.

Gratitude produces happiness

It can often become challenging to see things positively, let alone cultivate a sense of gratitude, however, gratitude is a great habit to nurture even in tough times as it can help you feel more optimistic as a couple amid the chaos. Gratitude will help you to focus on the memories and reminisce of the good times you have had together which can also build resilience and understanding. Gratitude can be as simple as appreciating the time shared with your spouse, the feelings of happiness and the joy it brings.

Self-love fulfils happiness

It is important to recognise the impact of self-love in fulfilling your happiness journey so that you can also reserve love and kindness for yourself. Even though people consider marriage as boosting happiness, however, studies have shown that women are more likely to become less happy years into their marriage than men because they often neglect their self-care and focus more on their men and children. Plan to pay more attention to self-love and do not settle for less than you deserve from each other this year. Practise self-love and boost your self-esteem and happiness, prioritise your desires, pursue your own goals and cross them on your bucket list to kick-start a healthy and fulfilling life.

Positive affirmation brings good feelings

In a world that strives more on negative than positive news, it is easy to get consumed with negative thoughts and build so much fear and gloom around yourself to steal your happiness away. Only you alone can decide to create an optimistic pattern of thinking around yourself and refuse to acknowledge negative self-talk each time they creep into your minds. Invest in positive affirmations as a couple and start to create the true lives that you both desire with your good feelings and show your internal oppressor the way out of your lives this New Year 2024.
