Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Roam launches its first mass transit bus in Nairobi
Kenyan-Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer Roam has launched the first mass transit electric bus to ply various routes in Nairobi. The bus, with a capacity of 90 passengers is part of the company’s strategy to build vehicles for mass transportation.
The company has revealed that its buses will ply Thika Superhighway, picking up and dropping off passengers at Allsops, Roysambu and Ruiru, among other designated stations. They will also be available on Mombasa Road and Waiyaki Way as the company prepares to introduce services along other routes.
“At Roam, we aim to guarantee access to comfortable, equitable and reliable public transport to shift the masses to electric public transport in Nairobi,” Dennis Wakaba, Project Coordinator, stated.
Fare charges for those routes and specific commuting points will conform with other Public Service Vehicles (PSVs).
