Damilola Adegbite: Why I’m passionate about humanity

Adegbite made this known during the launch of her new book entitled, Reset: The Mind-Body Approach to a New You.

Speaking during the launch, Adegbite said the birth of Brian, her first son, seven years ago, was a life-altering experience.

According to the Tinsel star, the aftermath of her experience of motherhood led to the establishment of her foundation, ‘With a Gentle Heart’ to cater for single mothers/fathers and their children.

“Immediately, I had my first child, I launched my foundation to lend support to needy mothers and their children. Transforming from a baby girl to a mother was a huge experience for me and I can tell you that to be a mother is not an easy thing at all.”

Adegbite said since the flagged off the NGO, she has been working tirelessly for the well-being of every kid by donating to hospitals to save more vulnerable children and also empowering women with different vocational training.

“Recently, I was at the emergency ward at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) to donate some items to nursing mothers and I noticed that children are dying just because of N21,500 to move them from the emergency ward to the main ward for treatment.

“My visitation was a blessing to some of these children as I paid their medical bills but I’m not pleased with the condition of mothers trying to save their children’s lives. I got home that day and I couldn’t sleep for two days… The state of our healthcare in Nigeria is bad. Aside that, many times, I will just take my car key and drive around to share money to struggling mothers that I see on the street.”

The new author boasted that she is already entrenched with a passion for humanity and promised never to give up as all proceeds from her book launch — either from buying a book or supporting the foundation in cash — will go to the foundation.

Adegbite hinted that her debut book highlighted her career and previous marriage experiences which she says are huge turning points in her life.
