Sanlam Angola Seguros announced on Monday, August 5, the appointment of Armando Jorge Mota as the new CEO of the institution, replacing Margaret Dawes, the current Chairman of the Board, who also held the CEO position concurrently.
According to a statement, Armando Jorge Mota, who led Fidelidade Angola for 13 years, will take over the management of Sanlam Angola Seguros starting next Monday, August 12.
Until his appointment, Margaret Dawes held the dual roles of Chairman of the Board and CEO of Sanlam Angola Seguros.
Cited in the document, Delphine Traoré, CEO of the Non-Life Division of the SanlamAllianz Group, stated that Armando Jorge Mota is the ideal choice to make the company profitable.
“His extensive experience as a strong leader in the Angolan insurance market makes him the ideal choice to lead Sanlam Angola Seguros towards additional profitable growth and its vision of consistently being one of the leading insurance companies in Angola,” emphasized Delphine Traoré.
Armando Jorge Mota holds a degree in Business Management, a master’s degree in Business Management from the Autonomous University of Lisbon, and is currently completing another master’s degree in Marketing at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
Before founding Universal Seguros in 2011, an Angolan insurance company that was renamed Fidelidade Angola in 2017, Armando Jorge Mota held leadership positions at Companhia de Seguros Fidelidade in Portugal from 1996 to 2010.
