The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola (Sodiam) will conduct an electronic auction of 46 special diamonds weighing over ten carats, including six stones from the Lulo mine.
According to a statement from the company, the auction is aimed at clients registered in Sodiam’s database, and the lots include a total of 46 special stones of +10.80 carats. These include six stones from Lulo, which produces the largest diamonds in Angola, eighteen stones from Catoca, one from Somiluana, sixteen from Kaixepa, and five from Luele.
The viewing sessions will conclude on July 23, 2024, at Sodiam’s headquarters in Luanda, and the electronic bidding process will end on July 24 at 10:00 AM local time.
The auction, organized in collaboration with Trans Atlantic Gem Sales, is the tenth rough diamond auction conducted by Sodiam, with the last one held in April.
Sodiam is the state-owned company responsible for the commercialization of diamonds produced in Angola, originating from seventeen kimberlite and alluvial productions.
In 2023, Sodiam sold and exported approximately 9.9 million carats of rough diamonds for a total value of around 1.56 billion dollars, corresponding to an average price of 158 dollars per carat, positioning Angola as the third largest producer of rough diamonds in the world in terms of value.
