The official launch of the 6th edition of the Angola Oil & Gas (AOG), the country’s leading conference dedicated to oil and gas, will take place on January 28, 2025, in Luanda.
Recognized as the largest event in Angola’s energy sector, the conference is scheduled for September 3–4 this year. AOG serves as the main platform to drive investments, foster partnerships, and promote new projects.
Supported by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas; the National Oil, Gas, and Biofuels Agency (ANPG); the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute (IRDP); the national oil company Sonangol; and the African Energy Chamber, the event brings together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and technology providers from around the world.
According to the organizers, the 2025 edition comes at a strategic moment for Angola’s energy sector. Aiming to maintain crude oil production above one million barrels per day through 2027 and to expand the role of natural gas in the energy mix, the country seeks to attract over $60 billion in investments in the next five years.
The conference will take place against the backdrop of significant advancements for Angola, including the start of operations at the Cabinda refinery, which promises to reduce dependence on fuel imports; production from the first non-associated gas project, boosting energy diversification; and the final investment decision on the pioneering green hydrogen project.
These initiatives underscore Angola’s commitment to energy transition and the sustainable development of its industry, sector, and country.
“The AOG conference has become the cornerstone of oil and gas dialogue in Angola, fostering transformative agreements and collaboration within the sector. The 2025 edition will be held at a critical moment, offering new opportunities in exploration, production, refining, and energy transition. Our Launch Cocktail, on January 28, celebrates the sector’s achievements and sets the stage for another impactful event,” said Luís Conde, Director of Events and Projects at Energy Capital & Power for AOG 2025.
The Launch Cocktail will provide an opportunity for industry professionals and investors to connect, exchange ideas, and explore the future of Angola’s energy sector. Additionally, it will highlight the main themes of AOG 2025, which include infrastructure and infrastructure-led exploration (ILX) to maximize resource recovery; the role of green hydrogen and other sustainable energy projects in the country’s energy mix; and strategies to attract international investments and strengthen public-private partnerships.
